PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT

The City of Clarkesville is accepting applications for a Public Works Superintendent to perform the following functions: to direct and manage the day to day operations of the Public Works Department  including repair and maintenance of streets; repair and maintenance of water distribution and wastewater collection; oversight of sanitation collection; repair and maintenance of city parks and right of ways; budgeting for all department functions and for  operating the functions within budget; capital budgeting and long term planning; parts inventory control and ordering; staff management and training, and other duties as may be assigned by the City Manager.  This position reports directly to the City Manager.  The ability to communicate positively and effectively with both the staff and the public is required.  Regular progress reports to the City Manager and Mayor and Council are required.  Candidates must provide references who can verify their ability to manage emergency situations effectively.

Requirements for this position include: Five years of supervisory public works experience, current Georgia Water Distribution System Operator License, current Georgia Wastewater Collection System License, valid Georgia driver's license, minimum of High School Diploma or GED, college level education preferred. Residential building, mechanical, and electrical inspection certifications are desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.  Salary will be based on education, certifications, and experience.
