Police Department

The Department has been under the direction of Chief Danny Clouatre since 2024. Chief Clouatre is a native of Habersham County.

Chief Clouatre joined the Clarkesville Police Department in 2005 and was promoted to Captain in 2007. During that time he has served as Assistant Chief and Detective for the Agency.

Chief Clouatre supervises and manages all functions of the Police Department’s Operations, and manages all Budgetary and Financial matters pertaining to the Police Department and Municipal Court. Chief Clouatre is assisted by Assistant Chief, Ryan Ledford. Assistant Chief Ledford joined the department in 2009.

As well as serving in the administrative position of Assistant Chief, Assistant Chief Ledford also supervises and manages all investigations for the department. Assistant Chief Ledford is a 2007 graduate of the Northeast Georgia Police Academy, a native of White County, and a graduate of White County High School.
