Clarkesville's Municipal & Utility Services are under the capable direction of ESG Operations, Inc. The City contracted with ESG in late 2018 to take over management of all Public Works operations provided by the City to the citizens. The previous crew, under the direction of ESG has continued the tradition of making sure the needs of the citizens are met in a professional and courteous manner. Below is a list of the responsibilities of the department.

  • Water line repair and installation
  • Sewer line repair and installation
  • Street Maintenance
    • Provide and maintain clean, safe streets
    • Provide and maintain rights of way and drainage ways
    • Paving and repairing pothole repair
    • Street sweeping
    • Storm water infrastructure
    • Drainage ditch maintenance
  • Sanitation Services
    • Furnishes 96-gallon rollaway containers
    • Trash pickup is Monday, Wednesday and Friday
  • Yard Trimmings Collection
    • Leaves, grass clippings, tree limbs collected twice per month
    • Limbs must be no longer than 4 ft and no larger than 4” in diameter
    • Trimmings should not be placed in garbage containers, street or ditches
    • Trimmings from original development of a lot will not be collected
    • Trimmings generated by tree services are collected only after a natural disaster
    • Pickup schedule subject to change based on project priorities
  • Grounds Keeping
    • Maintains Pitts Park and the Greenway
    • Oversight of Lawn Maintenance contracts
    • Maintains various City properties
    • Maintains City Cemetery
